Annual General Meeting 2009

Our AGM is finally happening! Please join us at MUCS (2000 Northcliffe, suite # 218), this coming Sunday, June 21st at 12:00 PM. This is less than one block from Vendome metro, between Sherbrooke and de Maisonneuve. If your membership has been current as of 30 days, you may vote - both to elect the executive and on any other proposals brought forward during the meeting. Everyone is more than welcome to attend, though.

Coffee, tea and goodies will be served :)
I hope to see you there. We need your input and your enthusiasm!

Sincerely,
Jessica Gal
nominated candidate and interim CEO

Callout for nominations - EDA executive and candidate

Greetings Green members of NDG-Lachine!

The time has come once again to hold our annual general meeting (AGM). In addition to this post you should each receive an email from me very soon, with the date of the meeting. The purpose of the AGM is first, to deliver reports to you regarding our activities, last election and financial status, and second, to elect our association's executive (president, financial agent, and other positions should candidates come forward) and electoral candidate.

Quelle est, d'après vous, l'enjeu vert le plus urgent à cibler dans notre circonscription?

What do you feel is the most pressing green issue in our riding?

Thank you, NDG-Lachine!

Well, here we are, the morning after... It's been quite a ride; 3 million dollars and one giant capitalist crisis later, here we are with a newly strengthened Conservative minority. Am I satisfied?

Watch election results with the Montreal Greens!

Come join Green Party candidates, their team members and supporters at Verre Bouteille, at 2112 Mont-Royal est, starting at 7 PM! Come and share a beer and your thoughts about the campaign, future directions, etc...

A sad day at Concordia University

I had a very unpleasant surprise yesterday, as I went to Concordia University, my own Alma Mater, to participate in their candidates' debate. The debate, organized by the Concordia Student Union and the Canadian Federation of Students, had apparently decided that the Greens would not be invited to participate, although we have done so in previous elections.

Benefit show for NDG-Lachine campaign

We have organized an fundraiser event on Friday evening, the 26th (see calendar for details) and you are invited! The 35$ ticket price includes donation, a 3-course meal at a La Maison Rustik, a local Romanian restaurant and live, authentic East European music (including guest appearance by the candidate!). I will also be speaking, of course, about the Greens and our electoral campaign.

Things are looking up!

Hello everyone! Undoubtedly, by now you will have heard the news - the decision to exclude Elizabeth may from the televised leaders' debate has been overturned! It doesn't get better than this! Especially considering that it was a direct result of the thousands of regular Canadians, not necessarily Greens, who were paying attention and took action against this clear injustice. Thanks to every one of you, and congratulations on a very significant victory and one big step in the right direction.

SHAME on them. Canadians have been cheated!

It is 5:30 PM on Monday, and word has just been pronounced (of course not to Elizabeth directly) that she will NOT be allowed to join the televised leaders' debate in October. According to a spokesperson from the media consortium who was interviewed on CTV news, "3 out of 4" other party leaders refused to participate if she were to be included, "despite the urging of the consortium". Knowing as we do that the Liberals have always supported our inclusion, it isn't difficult to deduce, therefore, who those 3 might be.
